  • Hydroseeding

Hydroseeding is seed and fertiliser uniformly mixed and agitated in solution with water, sprayed by truck mounted canon or hand held hoses directly onto the soil surface.

Tackifier/Binder can be added to the Hydroseed solution for batters or steep sites

    Main Advantages of Hydroseeding

    • Spray method can be applied to moist or difficult sites not accessible by wheeled machinery.
    • Low cost method of broadacre seeding.

  • Hydromulching

Hydromulching is seed, fertiliser and cellulose mulch uniformly mixed and agitated in a solution with water. The slurry is sprayed by truck mounted canon or hand held hoses directly onto the soil surface. Natural dyes are included for aesthetic reasons and to ensure uniform application.

Hydromulch (Spray on Lawn) application may range from domestic lawns, sports and recreation fields, parks and golf courses, and ideally, any areas that are topsoiled. However less accessible, harsher areas such as steep embankments, quarries and mines can be Hydromulched due to the ease of applying the material by extension hoses.

    Main Advantages of Hydromulching

    • Uniform application
    • Increased water retention
    • Seed at correct depth in soil/mulch matrix
    • Decreases soil losses due to wind or water run off
    • Reduces lose of seed by birds and insects
    • Access by hose to inaccessible areas
    • May include a binder to further enhance stabilising properties
    • Soil ameliorates may be included - lime, granular fertiliser, etc
    • Seed may be custom mixed to suit site
    • Pre-germinated seed may be used
    • Native grass, tree or shrub seed may be applied

  • Straw Mulching

STRAWMULCHING is a two stage process -

    1. Hydroseeding - Seed and fertiliser are uniformly mixed and agitated in solution with water. This is sprayed by truck mounted canon or hand-held hoses onto the soil surface.

    2. Straw Mulching - Bales are fed into a “Straw Mulcher”. The straw is flailed, spun through a turbine and blown at high velocity through a barrel to spread evenly across the Hydroseeded surface. At the barrel tip, a fine atomised spray of bitumen or Tackifier/Binder is introduced into the straw matrix.

Straw mulching is used on a large range of disturbed areas, roadside batters, quarry restoration, dam construction, sand dunes, construction sites and estates etc.

    Main Advantages of Straw Mulching

    • Suitable for harsher conditions, impoverished soil.
    • Straw layer provides microenvironment - seed will germinate when conditions are right
    • Raindrop impact dissipated
    • Surface water flow slowed by straw matrix
    • Seed not blown by wind
    • Mulch layer breaks down to add organic material to soil

  • BFM - Bonded Fibre Matrix

Bonded Fibre Matrix or BFM is the application of seed, fertiliser, sugar cane mulch or wood fibre mulch and tackifier/binder in a water based slurry.  The slurry is sprayed by truck mounted canon or hand held hoses directly onto the soil surface.  Some areas may require a higher application rate depending on the steepness or the amount of erosion.

BFM (Bonded Fibre Matrix) is suitable for native seeding, steep slopes, high erosion surfaces.

Main advantages of Bonded Fibre Matrix (BFM)

    • Application rate is thicker
    • Excellent water retention
    • It eliminates direct rain drop impact on soil
    • Meets longevity requirements
    • Minimizes wind and water erosion
    • Protects most slopes and soil types
    • Leaves no harmful residue
